Brightest Star is a personal collection of songs inspired by the sudden passing of Jerrika’s mother in the summer of 2016. “During this time of grief and reflection, music was the world in which I was able to escape – where I could feel close to my mother. She was my best friend, my moral compass, my confidant. The album’s inspiration comes from that place, culminating as a celebration of my mother though my music. She is still here with me, encouraging me every step of the way,” stated Mighelle in her recent newsletter.
“Trouble is a gritty, rootsy, wild song, about the darkness that lives in all of us. It took me years to write it because that meant I had to face my demons. I found that reaching beyond my normal vocal boundaries was cathartic for me. It is my hope that if people sing along with this song, it may be healing for them as well.”

займ онлайн на карту срочно EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN – January 25, 2021 – Austin Derks, frontman of Chamber Noise, has launched a new solo-project Courtside Lush and released new track, “Sift”, a track off of the forthcoming album, Swoonlight.
2021 has been a hot time for musicians in the Chippewa Valley to drop new tunes, and last week, we had the chance to (virtually) chat with the artist behind one of these releases, Austin Derks. Austin is the front-man of Chamber Noise, a band that is currently on a hiatus, as well as this brand new solo- project called Courtside Lush. Even while Chamber Noise has been on an indefinite hiatus, Austin has not stopped making the groovy, woozy music.
A project that began in 2018 with a lifelong buddy, Courtside Lush is set to release a new debut album, Swoonlight, out March 5th, 2021. “Sift”, the first single that dropped on January 14th, 2021, was the first track written for this forthcoming album. Now with an added sense of nostalgia in the midst of a pandemic, this track is inspired from the time between 2:20AM-2:45AM when one is being thrusted out of a bar at closing time, chaotic yet quiet. “Like a spaceship to enter an endless vaccum. But instead of exploring, we often get caught up in the cyclical nature of things. They’re habits – grid-like, we love to repeat the never changing revelation. Whether it’s good or bad,” said Austin regarding “Sift”.
Find Courtside Lush updates on http://punkyhallsconveniencestore.com, Facebook, Instagram, and grab the track and support the project at Bandcamp. AND stay tuned for the posted interview with Courtside Lush soon!

With her upcoming, full length sophomore album – Mighelle shares her voice and her songs with the world with the release of Brightest Star, in the new year, on February 24, 2021.
Inspired by the sudden loss of her mother in the summer of 2016, Brightest Star, is a personal album written by Mighelle from grief and processing her mother’s death. During this time of reflection, music was the place Jerrika Mighelle was able to escape, where she could feel close to her mother. “My mother was my best friend, my moral compass, my confidant. When she died I was shattered. The songs on this album come from that place.”
“My mother was the first person I ever shared my music with. When I am rehearsing on my own, I can still hear her voice from the other room just saying the kindest words of encouragement that continue to inspire my songwriting and creating music. She is still here encouraging me every step of the way.”
Mighelle felt this presence when she opened for the Milwaukee based duo, Dead Horses at the Pablo Center at the Confluence 2016. During live performances, Mighelle’s spiritually connects to her audience through the deep meaning of her lyrics, and roots based rhythms, “Emotions are right on my sleeves at shows from all the wonderful, magical energy.”
The first single, Trouble, showcases Jerrika Mighelle’s diverse musical talent as a singer-songwriter and performer with a full band, creating the breakout sound of rich, rock and folk harmonies.
Produced by Evan Middlesworth at Pine Hollow Studios with music and lyrics by Jerrika Mighelle. Trouble features Jerrika Mighelle on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, with Evan Middlesworth on electric guitar, Shane Leonard on drums, and Robbie Weisshaar on electric bass.
The full length sophomore album, Brightest Star, to be released on February 24, 2021 – was born after reflecting on her mother’s passing and the natural progression of finding peace.
As Jerrika Mighelle realized it was time for her get back to her passion of writing, and playing with fellow artists. Brightest Star was recorded in Eau Claire, Wisconsin with a stacked lineup of guest musicians, including Shane Leonard (Field Report, Anna Tivel), Evan Middlesworth (The National), and Serena Wagner (Sniffle Party), in which Mighelle creates a collection of timeless songs that thematically look for solace and hope in light of life’s challenges.

Local Eau Claire musician TeawhYB is back with a brand new track titled “All Gas No Brakes” with a release-date of January 15, 2021. The last year has brought many challenges, and TeawhYB’s new track delivers the hope that we all need at the beginning of 2021.
In this track, TeawhYB unites with L.A.-based producer, Kenzy Beats. A melodic-rap, pop anthem doused in soulful harmonies and packaged in a classic-corvette, hip-hop soundscape.
“Our misfortunes and insecurities are in the rear-view. Surviving last year’s challenges, we put the foot on the gas and burn past the inhibitions we once had. This is a call-to-action for all creatives, entrepreneurs, and idea-makers; “All Gas No Brakes”.”
“Throughout our life journey, we’ll need to dance in the kitchen while we’re cooking food, that’s what I hope to inspire with this release”, says TeawhYB.
Check out this track on Converge Radio on Friday, January 15th for the radio premiere on Converge Radio.
More about TeawhYB
Originating from Green Bay, WI and formerly noted for his college-life, party-induced sound, TeawhYB took a hiatus from a budding music career while coming to terms with his personal identity. He has since redirected his auditory creativity, mending the past, present, and future.
“Being aware of your identity is much different than accepting it. Once I was comfortable in my own skin everything started clicking musically. I have nothing to hide anymore and you can hear that in the music.”
His 2020 EP, What We Were, a blend of nostalgic early 2000s pop-punk and modern Top-40 Rap, is an all-too-real tale characterizing the ambiguity of hook-up and dating culture.

EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN – July 10, 2020 – Blue Ox Music Festival announces today, that it is cancelling the 6th annual festival scheduled for August 27-29, 2020 at Whispering Pines Campground in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
In an open letter to it’s music festival fans, attendees, sponsors, partners and artists – Blue Ox Music Festival states the decision is in response to the ongoing pandemic.
************************************
Hello Everyone,
It is with saddened hearts that we must announce our rescheduled August dates will be unfeasible.
We have been doing everything possible to ensure the best chance of having a Blue Ox Music Festival this year.
Unfortunately, this will not be possible. A gathering of our festival’s size would not be safe nor allowed under Eau Claire City-County Health guidelines.
All ticket buyers should have already received an e-mail with instructions for receiving refunds. If no action is taken your tickets and campsites will be good for our 2021 festival dates, currently planned for June 10-12, 2021.
The situation that we have all found ourselves in has forced us to evaluate how to balance keeping the festival on good financial footing and doing right by all of you who have supported us over the last five years. We are a family business with a small team of dedicated employees that has fixed costs throughout the year.
While some festivals have “postponed” their festival to the following year, without refunds, that idea just did not sit right with us.
We understand how they came to this decision since the economics of not having an event for 24 months is a quite daunting. Our festival’s situation is no different. Donating to the festival is a great way to ensure that we can meet our obligations as we look forward to Blue Ox 2021.
Donations are accepted on the following platforms:

Converge Radio Bringing Summer Concerts to the Region
Eau Claire (WI) The Western Wisconsin community has done an admirable job sheltering over the last several weeks and eventually restrictions will be loosened. However, it has left an unavoidable impact on the entirety of the local entertainment scene from performers to the supporters. Stages are dark and bandshells empty.
With that in mind, Converge Radio 99.9, the broadcast home for local music, is proud to announce the creation of the “At Home Concert Series” coming this May. Every Thursday night at 7pm, Converge Radio 99.9 will feature performances from a different local or regional act. The first airing is scheduled for May 14th and will run weekly through the end of August.
A list of performances will be announced soon at convergeradio.org.
“We hope that we’ll all be able to gather at various sites and bandshells this summer enjoying the variety of events we’ve grown accustomed to having, but in the meantime we wanted to be proactive and have something in place for the entertainment community” says Station Manager Scott Montesano.
Performances will cover a variety of genres.
“If all goes well, we’d like to continue this through the fall and winter” adds Montesano.
Converge Radio 99.9 is still in need of financial support to execute the concert series. Businesses or individuals interested is supporting the “At Home Concert Series” can either reach out via the station’s Facebook page or e-mail dustin@convergeradio.org.
