ARTIST BIO – Wisconsin singer/songwriter Jerrika Mighelle, formerly of sister folk trio QuinnElizabeth, has branched out from the family tree and penned seven tracks of expertly crafted and emotionally resonant folk songs for her debut solo album, “Like The Sea.”
Independently releasing on January 27, 2017, “Like The Sea” is a weighty and atmospheric gem, rife with raw emotions and existential longing. In her debut, Jerrika reflects on existence, love, loss, and life’s big questions. Over the past year and half, Jerrika has perfected her songs at local live shows and open mic appearances honing “Like The Sea” down to a precious keepsake which prevailed through times of self discovery, professional transition, and personal tragedy. “Like The Sea” is a way forward, a distant guiding light cutting through life’s murkiest depths.
The album was recorded at Pine Hollow Audio in the outskirts of Eau Claire with the engineering expertise of Evan Middlesworth (EL VY). And joining Jerrika on the album you’ll hear the familiar voices of her sisters Elizabeth and Jerissa. Those warm sisterly harmonies are stark and magical, and they never sound better than on the excellent closing track “Something New” which finds those heavenly tones that ascend into the stratosphere.
