While recording many artists in Derry, I noticed a thread through many of the records that could be described as a kind of Irish blues. This “spailpin” music became the foundations for American bluegrass music once it crossed the Atlantic. This week’s episode focuses on the rich tradition of Irish folk music.
Artists Featured in this Episode:
Tina Mc Laughlin and Marty Doherty – Orphan Girl
S. J. Downes – How Long (Frank Stokes cover)
Andrew Roddy – Song One
Anoush Zadeh – The Lord Bless and Keep You
