ARTIST SPOTLIGHT SERIES:
SAD HOUSE GUEST
Each month, Converge Radio spotlights a musical artist from the Midwest. We play songs and an interview on the air, helping you get to know the people who make great music in our community.
This month, we are proud to feature Sad House Guest!
Sad House Guest makes music because nothing else makes sense.
After gigging for 6 years under lead singer Samuel Stein’s name, they became Sad House Guest in the wake of the pandemic, establishing their new sound with a 4-piece indie-rock, brew-pop band. Ben Stein plays drums, Sam Lakmann on keys and fun sounds by 1000 dollar personal loan, Tor Kjartansson on bass and fiddle.
They combine stream-of-conscience lyrics with energetic and improvisatory music. The Eau Claire community has helped establish them as a band that people can gather around and forget about their post-pandemic troubles for just one show.
They have released two EPs: Bugs in My Brain (folksy, basement pop vibe) and Electric Veins (full band, live rock vibe).
