The Urge – My TV
The punk community loves to wax poetic about the “old school” and how much better things were then. Sometimes this means they were wistful for their favorite punk bands from high school (because it’s factually accurate that Rancid is the punk GOAT), while others are looking further back to a time when things were even more visceral, unique, and in their infancy.
For many this is the 80’s. The time when CBGB’s had a cavalcade of amazing talent come through their doors, sweaty and ready to rock. This is a time when things were raw right down to the ground wire on the mic cable. It was the time when punk was young.
When Eau Claire Band, The Urge plays their reunion show, Saturday May 11th at The Stones Throw, fans will not only get to walk down memory lane with originals, they will also be treated to covers of punk icons such as The Ramones, Iggy Pop, Blondie, Kinks, Suicide Commandos, and many more.
Throughout the 80’s The Urge played throughout Wisconsin including a gig opening for The Ramones in Wausau (pictured).
Fans in attendance are definitely have a good time no matter what school they love as the old one.
This Saturday, May 11th concert is also a benefit for Feed My People Food Bank. More info here
