Bio:
Francis and the Lights are a musical project that started in 2007, consisting of front-man Francis Farewell Starlite and varying individuals who collaborate with him to make the music. Their songs have been called electropop, contemporary R&B, and alternative rock, emphasizing Francis and company’s versatility. Since its conception, the project has released four EPs and recently debuted their first album Farewell, Starlite! in September 2016.
Francis and the Lights are best known for their 2016 song “Friends”, which included vocals from Justin Vernon and an accompanying music video that featured a memorable dance from both artists. Along with this breakthrough single, Francis’ ‘Prismizer’ vocal effect (which creates robotic harmonies with a singer’s voice) made appearances on some of the biggest albums of the year, such as Bon Iver’s 22, A Million, Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book, and Frank Ocean’s Blonde. Beyond these collaborations, Francis has also worked with artist’s like Drake, Das Racist, Birdy, Cashmere Cat, and The Weeknd.
After a busy year in 2016, Francis will be bringing his talent and creativity to Eaux Claires for the third year in a row. Fans and new listeners alike should be ready for another memorable performance on June 16th.
